A new building was erected in the place where it stopped.Today, it stands as an impressive example of architecture and art – its walls reflect the influence of artisans from Baltistan, Kashmir, Tibet, Ladakh, and Central Asia.And if you've always seen yourself in palace chambers – Khaplu has 21 hotel rooms for rent.🇵🇱 Yabgo Khar - Pałac KhapluPałac Khaplu jest całkiem młody (XIXw) i z jego powstaniem wiąże się ciekawa historia - o jego lokalizacji zdecydował stoczony z klifu przy poprzednim forcie głaz. Tam gdzie się zatrzymał postawiono nowy budynek.Dzisiaj stanowi imponujący przykład architektury i sztuki - w jego murach widać wpływy prac rzemieślników z Baltistanu, Kaszmiru, Tybetu, Ladakh i Centralnej Azji. Hearing that his first wife in Baltistan, Langabrumo, had been kidnapped, he immediately made preparations to go and rescue her. He took Bubli to a mountain peak and gave her a sack of grain and a chicken. When she asked when he would return, he said, "Every year, give this chicken one grain to eat. When the sack is empty, I will return. Until then, stay here." and left—and Bubli, as they say, is still waiting there.Both photos show the small, sharp, finger-like peak of Ladyfinger, also known as Bubli mo Ting—Bubli Peak.🇵🇱 Kisar, magiczny książę z Baltistanu, przybył do Hunzy podczas jednej ze swoich przygód i poślubił księżniczkę o imieniu Bubli. 🇬🇧 Since I've already started the forts series, th 🇬🇧 Since I've already started the forts series, this time let's take a look at Shigar :)It's one of the luckier one, well-cared for and renovated (it's been through a lot since its founding in the 17th century), and even given a new life – today, it houses both a hotel and a restaurant.Shigar is actually a palace, not a fort. Its original name, Fong Khar (Palace on the Rock), becomes clear just 20 meters after passing through the palace gate – but I'll leave that as an unsaid curiosity for you to read up on or see for yourself ;)🇵🇱 Skoro już zaczęłam serię fortów to tym razem - Shigar :)Należy do tych szczęśliwszych, o które zadbano i odnowiono (bo od swojego powstania w XVIIw sporo przeszedł), a nawet tchnięto w nie nowe życie - dziś działa tutaj i hotel i restauracja.Shigar to tak właściwie pałac a nie fort. Looming on a mounta 🇬🇧 Kharphocho - King of Forts.Looming on a mountainside above Skardu, the fortress once served as a military stronghold and strategic observation point. Today, all that remains are crumbling walls, empty walls, and a mass of rubbish inside. There are no signs of any upkeep of this monument (apart from an elderly man lying in the entrance collecting the entrance fee) – and it's a shame that a fort that has stood there since the 16th century has fallen into ruin and oblivion.🇵🇱 Kharphocho - Król Fortów.Górująca na górskim zboczu nad Skardu warownia służyła swego czasu jako twierdza wojskowa i strategiczny punkt obserwacyjny - dzisiaj zostały z niej głównie rozpadające się mury, puste ściany i masa śmieci we wnętrzach. 🇬🇧 I could count on one hand the photos from this 🇬🇧 I could count on one hand the photos from this trip that I actually like - but this is definitely one of them.Somewhere in the village of Karakul stands what is considered the oldest Kalash house - a 300-year-old, austere structure, blackened by smoke and age, built on wooden stilts, made of wood, stone, and mud. It's inhabited by an elderly couple - one half of whom you see in this photo.🇵🇱 Na palcach jednej ręki mogłabym zliczyć zdjęcia z tego wyjazdu, które rzeczywiście mi się podobają - ale to zdecydowanie jest jedno z nich.Gdzieś w wiosce Karakul znajduje się uznawany za najstarszy z domów Kalashów - 300-letni, surowy, poczerniały od dymu i starości budynek na drewnianych palach, zbudowany z drewna, kamieni i błota. Perched on the slopes and peaks of the hills surrounding the valley for protection from the elements, they remain strong to this day – the oldest house in the village is 300 years old (the officialy oldest one, although some sources claim that one of them may be as old as 700).🇵🇱 Domy Kalashów to proste konstrukcje, zrobione z 3 głównych składowych: skał, drewna i błota, często ustawianych wertykalnie, jeden nad drugim. Pakistan thus emerged as a new, independent state (India declared independence the following day) – and since then, it has celebrated Independence Day on August 14th every year.🇵🇱 Pakistan Zindabad!Do doliny Kalash dojechaliśmy idealnie na 14 sierpnia - czyli święto narodowe, o którym nie pamiętałam ani ja, ani najwyraźniej mój towarzysz ;)14 sierpnia 1947r nastąpił punkt zwrotny w historii Pakistanu, kiedy to Brytyjczycy w końcu zgodzili się na utworzenie państwa muzułmańskiego w północno-zachodnich regionach Indii Brytyjskich. 🇬🇧 Quite unlike in the rest of Pakistan, in the Ka 🇬🇧 Quite unlike in the rest of Pakistan, in the Kalash Valley you see mostly women - in long, richly embroidered black dresses, with headdresses made of shells and beads (which can be quite heavy), playing with children or busy with daily household chores.In case you didn't recognize - the person on the 5th photo is me :) There is a place where you can try the local dresses and feel like a Kalash princess - and I highly recommend do do so! Putting one on in 30 degree weather was an intense experience - they are surprisingly heavy and warm 😂🇵🇱 Zupełnie odmiennie niż w reszcie Pakistanu, w dolinie Kalash widać głównie kobiety - w długich, bogato haftowanych czarnych sukniach, z lokalnym nakryciem głowy z muszelek i paciorków (które potrafi być naprawdę ciężkie), bawiące się z dziećmi lub uwijające się przy codziennych obowiązkach domowych.Na wypadek, gdybyście nie rozpoznali - osobą na 5tym zdjęciu jestem ja :)W dolinie znajduje się miejsce, gdzie można przymierzyć lokalne stroje i poczuć się jak prawdziwa księżniczka - do czego gorąco namawiam! Several festivals are held here throughout the year, during which the Kalasha dress in their most festive attire and spend several days dancing and singing to the accompaniment of drums. Participation is open – although the valley isn't as popular as other places in Pakistan and doesn't see crowds of visitors, tourism has arrived here, with all its advantages and disadvantages.Beyond these few times of the year, on any given day, you can delve into one of the most interesting Kalasha rituals – burial traditions.Until the 1970s, the Kalasha people weren't buried in the ground – instead, the body was carried in an open coffin or on the deceased's bed (with a few personal belongings, such as a blanket or pillow) and left in the cemetery. Today, this is no longer practiced – both due to hygiene concerns and due to incidents of the deceased being robbed of their valuables (as, unfortunately, one of the consequences of growing tourism).🇵🇱 Kalashowie to przede wszystkim tradycje. W ciągu roku odbywa się tutaj kilka festiwali, podczas których Kalashowie ubierają swoje najbardziej odświętne stroje i przez kilka dni tańczą i śpiewają przy akompaniamencie bębnów. Udział w nich jest otwarty - chociaż dolina nie jest tak popularna jak inne miejsca w Pakistanie i nie widać tutaj tłumów gości, to i tutaj dotarła już turystyka, ze wszystkimi jej zaletami i wadami.Poza tymi kilkoma okresami w roku, każdego dowolnego dnia można zagłębić się w jeden z ciekawszych obrządków Kalashy - tradycje pochówków.Aż do lat '70 XXw. zmarłych nie grzebano w ziemi - zamiast tego, ciało było przenoszone w otwartej trumnie lub na łóżku zmarłego (z kilkoma jego prywatnymi rzeczami, jak koc czy poduszka) i zostawiane na cmentarzu.
